A $45 million deal was struck for a Brightline train station in downtown Stuart, just months after city commissioners there rescinded a similar deal. The new station will be the closest station north of Brightline's West Palm Beach station.

A Brightline train station is still a possibility on the Treasure Coast. After the city of Stuart voted against it, Brightline went to the Martin County Commission. It could be the light at the end of the tunnel for Brightline and downtown Stuart as the Martin County Commission votes on a train station Tuesday.

Getting a Brightline station on the Treasure Coast could be back on track. Martin County commissioners are set to have a public discussion Tuesday.

STUART, Fla. – Plans for a Brightline train station in Martin County are back on track, after commissioners approve plans. In a meeting on Tuesday, Martin County Commissioners voted unanimously to start negotiations to build the station which would add one more stop between Orlando and Miami-Dade County.

According to the Brightline proposal, the county would have to pay up to $15 million to construct of the station, possibly in downtown Stuart. Federal and state grants would then have to fund the remainder of the costs by June of 2027, if the county can't find the rest of the funds, Brightline can pull out of the deal.

Upon completion of the station at least eight north and southbound trains will stop in Stuart during the first quarter of service.
