A five-year-old with autism is confirmed dead after drowning in a pond in Cypress, authorities announced Sunday.

A 5-year-old was found dead in a Cypress community Sunday afternoon after being reported missing, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Around 3 p.m., Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a post on X,

Deputy constables were called to the neighborhood in the Cypress area about the missing child. They found him in the pond.

The county board of elections chair cited public comments indicating “perceived intimidation by our sheriff against certain voters."

The sheriff’s department in Portage County, Ohio has been stripped of its election security duties after its MAGA sheriff said people displaying Kamala Harris signs in their yards should have their addresses recorded so illegal immigrants can be sent to their homes.

Portage County, Ohio Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski caused an uproar earlier this month when he posted on Facebook that his supporters should "write down" the addresses of local residents in the county who had signs supporting Vice President Kamala Harris on their lawns.
