Kia has announced that starting on January 15, 2024, its EV owners will gain access to over 16,500 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S.

Kia EVs in the United States will gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network on January 15, 2025. Some EV6 and EV9 owners will get a free charging adapter, but others will have to pay for it. Kia will sell three adapter types.

Non-Tesla EV drivers now have more charging options, starting with Ford, Rivian, and GM. Here's the full list, who's getting access next, and how this major industry shift came about.

The iconic automaker announced the significant step on Sept. 18 as part of GM’s broader effort to enhance charging options for current and future electric vehicle (EV) drivers, ensuring fast and convenient nationwide charging.

Kia joins Ford, Rivian, and GM with a schedule for its NACS adapter rollout, but existing owners will have to pay up.

EV owners of GM vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Cadillac Lyriq will now officially have access to Tesla’s Superchargers.

The move will increase the number of DC fast charging stations available to Kia EV owners by over 83 percent - but only for the EV6 and EV9 SUVs.

These EVs will soon gain access to Tesla's Supercharger network, and other charging networks will also adopt the NACS plug.
