Pixxel, an Indian space tech startup backed by Google, has successfully launched the first three hyperspectral satellites of its commercial constellation Firefly.

Two Indian space start-ups, Pixxel and Digantara, have launched groundbreaking satellites via SpaceX. Pixxel's hyperspectral satellites capture earth's data across 150 bands, aiding sectors like agriculture and defense.

With the launch of the first three satellites, Pixxel will now be able to deliver more precise critical climate and Earth insights, said founder and CEO Awais Ahmed.

Looking ahead, Pixxel plans to expand the Firefly constellation with three additional satellites in March. Ahmed reflected on the company’s journey, which began in April 2022 with the launch of Shakuntala, India’s first private Earth-imaging hyperspectral satellite.
