A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Counites under the advisory, including Cook and DuPage counties, can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow with higher amounts of up to 5 inches possible, especially in Lake County, Illinois. High temperatures will be in the 20s with lows in the teens.

Warming centers have opened up across Dayton amid freezing temperatures and accumulating snow. The three facilities are scheduled to be open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

A band of lake effect snow is expected to develop after 8 p.m. Sunday and remain in place into Monday morning's commute, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to fall to the single digits on Wednesday.
