Ms. Harris made slight gains in Traverse City and its surrounding counties in northern Michigan, but Mr. Trump ultimately led in most of them. Ms. Harris gained only a few thousand votes in the region while Mr. Trump swept tens of thousands of votes elsewhere in the state.

In 2020, Biden won the state back for Democrats, backed, among others, by the state’s large Arab American population – the largest in North America.
