Fans are confused about what Project Rene actually is and whether it is a codename for The Sims 5. Fortunately, a clear answer has finally been given.

Though The Sims 4 is still thriving 10 years after it was originally released, developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts are in active development on Project Rene, the codename for what will become the next iteration of The Sims.

Maxis dropped a ton of The Sims-related information, including an update to Project Rene. It's getting another invite-only playtest this fall, this time focused on multiplayer.
