Fetterman has broken with his party on some policy matters and warmed to President-elect Donald Trump, a man he bashed on the 2024 campaign trail as a “felon” who is “obsessed with revenge.” Fetterman later became the first Senate Democrat to meet with Trump since the election.

The Pennsylvania senator, a Democrat, said he would "meet with and have a conversation with anyone" to deliver for his state.
“I think I agree with that,” Sunny Hostin agreed, adding that she thinks he’s “brilliant.” While she agreed with Navarro’s point about the “optics” of trekking to Florida and “kissing the ring,” she thought Fetterman’s decision was “shrewd.”
U.S. Sens. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) are on opposite sides of the aisle, but aren’t entirely falling in line or opposing Trump’s selections.
"I've been clear that no one is my gatekeeper. I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the nation," Fetterman said.
