The University of Texas and head football coach Steve Sarkisian have reached an agreement on a contract extension, according to reports.
After reportedly turning down interviews with two NFL teams regarding their coaching vacancies, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian agreed to a new seven-year deal, ESPN reported on Saturday.
Sarkisian reposted the photo with a two-word message. "Hook 'em," Sarkisian wrote. Sarkisian recently wrapped up his fourth season leading the Longhorns after joining the program from Alabama, where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Nick Saban.
The Longhorns return several talented players after making their second consecutive College Football Playoff Semifinal appearance in 2024. In addition to its already loaded roster, Texas brings in the nation's No. 1 class headlined by four 247Sports composite five-stars and seven Top 50 players.
It comes after Sarkisian already agreed to four-year extension in 2024, which bumped his yearly salary to more than $10 million.

The Longhorns (13-2) have played 27 games since the bookmakers last made them underdogs. Odds set by BetMGM tabbed the Buckeyes (12-2) as six-point favorites as of Wednesday evening. "Clearly, we're massive underdogs," Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said.
