Dallas police officers shot and critically wounded a man who waved a gun at drivers and pointed the weapon at officers on Tuesday afternoon, the department said. The shooting occurred about 3:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive in northeast Dallas, after police arrived to investigate reports of the man waving his gun at motorists.

Dallas Police Officer Gabriel Bixby, who had served with the department since 2018, was struck when a car turned in front of him in Hunt County.
