The Braves have signed a former All-Star first baseman who split last season between the Red Sox and Cubs, according to a new report.

This past Sunday morning, as the sun began to illuminate the ice-covered trees in the miles around Truist Park like a thousand crystal chandeliers, Robert Murray reported that the Atlanta Braves signed Garrett Cooper to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training.

Adding him to the back end of the bullpen would have bolstered a unit that could be without some huge pieces from 2024.

The Atlanta Braves have struck a deal with a first baseman who has already played in an All-Star Game and has a history with the Yankees and Red Sox.
