The coldest temperatures of the year hit Houston overnight, with some people in Southeast Texas waking up to temps between 14 and 18 degrees, the coldest since last January's arctic outbreak.

With another Arctic blast on the way for the second time this year, CW39 anchor Sharron Melton joins Chief meteorologist Jonathan Novack who compares to it to 2021’s hard freeze when the city of Houston shut down.

With freezing temperatures holding firm, much of Houston remains at a standstill, as schools, businesses and many roads remained closed Wednesday morning. State of play: Driving on roads is still not advised as melted snow has refrozen.
