The Boston Red Sox reportedly have reunited with a pitcher who played for them during the forgettable 2020 season.

Smith spent the 2024 season with the Red Sox and the Cincinnati Reds. During his time in Boston, Smith quickly became well-liked among the fans. But once Triston Casas was activated from the injured list Boston designated Smith for assignment before ultimately releasing him.

The Boston Red Sox are in rare air when it comes to the prospect world at the beginning of 2025. Though the last three seasons have been disappointing at the major-league level for the Red Sox, it hasn't all been for nothing.

The New York Yankees added some depth on Monday, signing Dominic Smith to a minor league deal, the YES Network’s Jack Curry reported. Smith, a first baseman and outfielder, played for the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds last season.
