Man found unresponsive on cell floor is Sedgwick County Jail’s first death this year
The man, 29, was a resident of Rockford, Illinois, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Branden Stitt said by email. He was booked into the jail on Dec. 23, 2023, in connection with aggravated domestic battery and drug possession crimes and was scheduled for sentencing this week on three of those counts, court and booking records show.
Inmate death reported at Sedgwick County Jail
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an inmate death at the Sedgwick County Jail. The sheriff’s office says the 29-year-old inmate, who was not identified, was found on the floor, and medical personnel were notified and responded.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A 29-year-old inmate at the Sedgwick County Jail was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive on the floor of his cell on Monday night. The inmate was found at about 10:10 p.m., after which life-saving measures were taken. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10:52 p.m.
