In Southern California, two counties are sending crews to Orange County after eight firefighters there were injured in a crash. They will help in the battle against the devastating Airport Fire, which is now more than 50% contained after days of progress.

Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for two weeks, it has burned 23,519 acres. A crew of 1,118 firefighters has been working on site and, by Monday morning, they managed to contain 81% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.

Eight firefighters were injured, including six critically, after a fire truck rolled over and crashed on a California freeway on Thursday evening.

The firefighters had been battling the massive Airport Fire​ before eight were seriously injured in a rollover crash on a freeway in Orange County, officials said.
