Snow totals soar in West Michigan: Muskegon, Holland tie with 19 inches
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Rapids released a long list of 96-hour snow totals today. Topping the list were the Lakeshore towns of Muskegon and Holland - both with 19 inches of snow.
Lake-effect snow causes multiple crashes and road closures in West Michigan, including a jackknifed semi on I-196.
An inch or two of fresh snow had fallen in parts of the Lansing area as of Thursday afternoon. Once again, the roads were slick.
Warmer weather seeps back in, still cold but much better from where we were with some lingering lake-effect snow showers.
Friday will be mainly dry as the lake effect wraps up. Through the morning, some breaks in the clouds will allows for some moment of sunshine, but that won’t last long. The afternoon is quite cloudy.
